Many research projects rely on IT to reach a successful conclusion. Some research areas (e.g., proteomics, quantum mechanics, molecular modelling, statistical mechanics) have a very heavy reliance on IT. When it comes time to plan a project and begin to write a proposal, discuss your IT needs with Scott, who can provide solid information on what can work and what may not, as well as items incidental to the core IT hardware/software such as power conditioning, air conditioning, and security of your gear.
