FacilitiesThe Department has several computing facilities for which the specifications are outlined below. Science E-Learning Environment (W1-50)Located in the first floor of the west wing, the lab consists of 40 AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ computers running Windows XP and a OneCard printer. Software available in the lab includes MS Office 2003, ChemDraw Standard, Prism, Chime, and Rasmol. Internet access (web, e-mail) is available to all holders of CNS ids. The lab is available from 08:30 to 17:00, Monday through Friday during the Fall, Winter, and Spring Terms. Trouble with the computers or OneCard printer in the lab during the day should be reported via e-mail to . Laptop ports are enabled at the desktops and on either wall (East and West). These laptop ports are configured identically to those in CNS labs, so the instructions for use are identical as well.Physical Chemistry Instructional Lab (W1-23)Located in the first floor of the west wing, the lab consists of thirteen Mac mini computers running Mac OS X. These "workstations" are used in the Chem 282 and 493 courses. Students learn the use of Maple in their acquisition of theoretical and computational chemistry knowledge. Instructional Resource Centre (W3-56)Located in Chemistry W3-56, the IRC is staffed from 08:30 to 16:30, Monday through Friday. The main contact for the IRC is Jade Lam (email: ). High-Performance Computational Chemistry CentreThe Department owns a 40-processor computational cluster based on AMD AthlonMP 1800+ processors, and houses elevn other computational clusters for the one of the largest computational chemistry facilities in Canada.Audio-visual gearThe projector and Smart Board are now located with the rest of Chemistry's AV gear in the Electronics Shop.
