Policies applicable to computer and network use both on-campus as well as the use of University-tagged equipment off-campus are set forth here.

Conditions of Use

CNS have published a set of Conditions of Use which apply to all use of University computing and network resources. Basically, the use of University computers and networks for illegal activities (e.g., Ponzi schemes, child pornography, software piracy) as well as questionable activities (e.g., chain letters) should be avoided. The University has misuse detection systems in place in order to ensure that the Conditions of Use are met. Do not presume anonymity in your use of computers and networks on campus.

Departmental Web server

The Departmental web server is for posting materials directly related to the research, instructional, or general business of the Department. Those wishing to post "personal" web pages are encouraged to use their CNS accounts for the posting of such pages.

Conservation of Bandwidth

The University pays a great deal of money for their Internet connection. Downloading or uploading vast quantities of copyrighted media will get you in trouble.
